Multivalent Diffusive Transport

We present here a model for multivalent diffusive transport whereby central point-like hub is coupled to multiple feet, which bind complementary sites on two-dimensional landscape. The available number of binding interactions dependent the feet (multivalency) and their allowed distance from (span). Using Monte Carlo simulations that implement Gillespie algorithm, we simulate processes 100 distinct walker designs. Informed by our simulation results, derive an analytical expression diffusion coefficient general process as function multivalency, span, dissociation constant Kd. Our findings can be used guide experimental design transporters, in particular, providing insight into how overcome trade-offs between diffusivity processivity.

The effects of quenched disorder on the overdamped motion of a driven particle on a periodic, asymmetric potential are studied. While for the unperturbed potential the transport is due to a regular drift, the quenched disorder induces a significant additional chaotic "diffusive" motion.
